Howdy folks, As some of you might know, i have been single for a few months. My former girlfriend decided to move back to California to help her family open a business. That was a little over four months ago. The past few years of my life had been dedicated to my chosen career, which kept me away from home for lengthy amounts of time, which made the task of maintaining any sort of relationship with the opposite sex nearly impossible. I tried. I failed. I tried again. I failed again. Ad...

New poll numbers were published today showing that dubya's approval ratings are dropping yet again. Link His overall job approval rating is at 42%. There have been previous presidents with lower scores (Nixon and Truman during their last terms for example). But the telling sign is his approval rating on his handling of the Iraq war. His rating in this department has slipped to a Johnson-like 38%. I think the chickens are finally coming home to roost on poor dubya. His solution? G...

The IRA announced today that they intend to disarm, demilitarize, and join the political process. Link I think the Unionists are a little skeptical, but the IRA has never made statements like this. It will be interesting to see if it goes through. And if it does, will the Unionists follow suit? Thanks for reading, thatoneguyinslc

Howdy folks, Iconoclast's article about the 25th anniversary of Peter Sellars death got me thinking about my favorite movies. Which led me to wonder what my fellow JUsers were into. Here's my list. 1. Dr. Strangelove - Peter Sellars greatest movie 2. Patton - Good old George C. Scott. 3. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Kevin Spacey and John Cusack were perfect for this film. 4. A Clockwork Orange - The movie that made Malcom McDowell. One of Stanley's best 5. JFK - Olive...

Some of you are already aware of System of A Down. The LA experimental Metal outfit. A lot of people have a love-hate relationship with their music. Some critics have called it "schitzophrenic" or "Mr. Bungle Light". Whereas some critics have heralded them as the "Next wave of american heavy metal". I personally have been listening to them since their release "Steal This Record" and have followed their career with admiration, confusion, and delight ever since. Their newest release "Mesme...

Normally i am a supporter of freedom of the press. With that said... As many of you know, Mary Kay Latourneau wed Vili Fulau over the weekend. Fulau was the young boy she raped when she was a teacher. This is bizarre enough on it's own. But now Entertainment Tonight (being the oh so reputible news outlet they are) is airing a special segment on their show with exclusive coverage of the wedding. This makes me sick! Since when is this newsworthy? We are rewarding sexual predators with ...

Howdy folks, My travels take me to Southern California (yet again) this week. Normally i enjoy it down here. The weather is usually good, and there's lots to do when i'm off work. But this week... I'm across the street from the gates of hell! Or as some call it. DISNEYLAND! I hate the evil mouse. Even when i was a kid ( i was and still am a big fan of Warner Bros.) I never came here like most kids. I now know that i didn't miss much. Screaming brats everywhere. Running the hallways o...

Howdy folks, I have been following Dabe's article "The Confederate Flag" recently. Rarely do i ever feel the need to expand on someones thread. I figure it's not my place to run with or against the author's writings. But, as usual the ever touchy subject of racism has turned ugly. I just wanted to say one thing to everybody on both sides.....ok? You don't have to like the other person or their arguement. But, you have to accept the fact they have differing opinions. It's part of the ...
