Since when do we reward sex offenders with TV time?

Normally i am a supporter of freedom of the press. With that said...

As many of you know, Mary Kay Latourneau wed Vili Fulau over the weekend. Fulau was the young boy she raped when she was a teacher. This is bizarre enough on it's own.

But now Entertainment Tonight (being the oh so reputible news outlet they are) is airing a special segment on their show with exclusive coverage of the wedding. This makes me sick!
Since when is this newsworthy? We are rewarding sexual predators with media coverage? So it's different because she's a woman right? If this is the standard, where is Access Hollywood's coverage of Priests who enter civil unions with their altar boys? How about The Tom Green Polygamist X-mas special on Fox? Where's the R. Kelly interview on Oprah?

Excuse me while i hurl.

Thanks for reading,

If Mary Kay was a nun she would be going after the girls... ::

A 12 yr old boy can physically get aroused. Most of the time its involuntary (ever have to do a math problem on the board guys?) The fact she was an adult , and on top of that a TEACHER makes it worse. We trust teachers to educate and protect, not fondle and rape.

am just being honest that I still do not relate a Female "Raping" a boy the same way a Man does a girl. Gid, big jump from that to trying to legalize these actions.
Come on now!

Sushik, for you to even suggest that this isn't wrong and isn't raping a child just because it's a female touching a male child is ludricrous! How in God's name do you come by this reasoning? How?! I just don't get this at all.

If this had happened to my son, there's no way she would be out of jail right now. My life mission would have been to keep her there. Wrong is wrong and that's all there is to it. For you to even suggest that it's ok?!

have you ever heard of "hogging", or the "200lbs" "300lbs" or "400lbs" clubs?

Some guys like big women.

I think some of you forgot what its like to be a 12 year old boy.

Secondly, it has been put that pedefiles usually have consent so the boy was more than happy to do it... but he was a boy and that is the problem, isn't it?

Finally, he was raped and it is just as illegal as if it was a girl. Saying a hormone driven erect penis means he 'wanted it' for a 12 year old boy is a farce. Grown men should know and remember that erections could come out of nowhere fast with just a thought (ad sometimes lead to embarrassig moments)

Of course no one supports this type of action , I am just saying that when it is a female teacher to a male student, and especially when the female is attractive (not that Mary Lu is), that most guys will outwardly say "Terrible!" (or as JforJ would say SICK!) but smile and say 'Lucky kid, teachers never did that in my day"

There is a double standard for these

True, we could probably to a whole article on "most embarrassing spot" for teen erections. Thank goodness for strategic "Pee Chee" positioning! ;~D

Some guys like big women.

Yes, some guys are attracted to big women, nothing wrong with that, but the guys who brag about being in these "clubs" are not attracted to big women, they make games out of who can "bag" the biggest one of the night. But that is a subject for a different day.

As if the tv show wasn't sick enough, the Child Molester Mary Kay Letourneau and her victim Vili Fualaau published a book together. It was only released in France, but it was titled: "Un seul crime, l'amour"...

"Only one crime, love"

Any acceptance of this monster is just plain sick!

I think the thing we have to realize is that while a student might be sexually mature, he or she is not emotionally and developmentally mature enough to be making decisions like that. They are very susceptible to manipulation, and may end up doing things that are harmful to them because they are not mature enough to make good decisions about it.

You could say that the sex was consensual, but the point is, the teacher took advantage of his emotional and developmental immaturity and manipulated him into acts and situations that were harmful to him and jeopardized his future. To me, this is much the same as a man drugging a woman and then having sex with her. It's still rape.

And to glorify it like a celebrity wedding is sickening. The big to-do over this wedding may give pedophiles ammo for rationalizing their actions as well as manipulation tools (see, look, that kid and that lady loved each other, and it was OK, they even got married...other people do this).

We can't as a society say that kids having sex is ever consentual. If we do then any adult that can pressure a kid into agreeing is free to do what they want. It's sick that anyone can even imagine this situation being different than any other molester.

The way some people talk you'd think the only problem they have with NAMBLA is the gay part. If you think people like Micheal Jackson need to go away for life, then this woman should have never gotten out.
