One wedding down...
Published on September 6, 2005 By thatoneguyinslc In Personal Relationships
Howdy folks,

I have been a licensed minister for about three years now. I have pretty much avoided fulfilling my ministerial duties ever since for various reasons. Work, and family primarily.

Until today that is.

My friend Kirk called me today and asked if i would be around, and if i could meet up with him and his girlfriend Anna. I agreed, and we ended up having coffee. We started with the usual chit chat...And then he lowered the boom!

He asked me if i would be wiling to perform an impromptu wedding service. The had all the paperwork, the license, the rings, and the witnesses.

After all the players were assembled, i went to work. I never cared much for over produced ceremonies. I personally would prefer a vegas wedding to a big church shindig.

But i must say for a small hastily planned event. It was great. My spchiel was simple. The traditional holy matrimony stuff, but a little more streamlined, suited to the couple, the pronouncement of matrimony, and then the kiss.

I admit that i was scared to death at first, but in retrospect, i think have a newly found respect for the whole tradition of matrimony.

Thanks for reading,

Yea, I'll say, I would never have guessed! That was pretty good Rev....glad you got over the jitters to give a first class ceremony!

hey rev? question... will you marry men to men and women to women too?

But now that we know you are a ordained minister, I am going to have to ban you from my political blogs.  You know, separation of Church and State?

Serenity,

Thanks! Being my first ceremony, i was worried i would screw it up.

Mod,

Gay marriage is verboten here in the land of Zion. Civil Unions on the other hand? I would consider it. Already had one friend ask.

Guy.

Yeah, you gotta be nicer to me now cuz i have inroads with the big guy on the top floor :: Thanks!
