Life behind the zion curtain, politics, music, IT, things that go fast, tasteless humor, and everything anti-bush.
Howdy folks,

Iconoclast's article about the 25th anniversary of Peter Sellars death got me thinking about my favorite movies. Which led me to wonder what my fellow JUsers were into.

Here's my list.

1. Dr. Strangelove - Peter Sellars greatest movie
2. Patton - Good old George C. Scott.
3. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Kevin Spacey and John Cusack were perfect for this film.
4. A Clockwork Orange - The movie that made Malcom McDowell. One of Stanley's best
5. JFK - Oliver Stone knows how to stir the hornets nest.
6. Crash - Unbelievably real.
7. Platoon - The movie that made me realize that Willem Dafoe is a great actor.
8. Full Metal Jacket.-Two words...Lee f**king Ermey!
9. El Dorado - The Duke, Bob Mitchum, James Caan, and Walter Brennan. One of the best westerns ever made. The duke actually made this movie twice.
10. LA Confidential - Russell Crowe steals the show. I had no idea he was an Aussie because his american accent is almost perfect.

Now it's your turn folks. Fire away!

Thanks for reading,

I've seen it. Lee Marvin sings like a walrus in heat.

Hey!  I like Walruses!

The original?

Should have specified, but yes.  The remake was lousy!

"Get your paws off me you damn dirty ape!"

The 13th Warrior
Face Off
Notting Hill; Runnaway Bride; Something to Talk About, Pretty Woman (Ok this is probably cheating, I love Julia Roberts!)
Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind
Dune (original)
Philadelphia
Out of Time
Alien (all of the follow ups too)
Bridget Jones Diary (1 & 2)
Lawrence of Arabia (they're supposed to show a full version of this on A& E Thursday afternoon too, fully restored and in color!)

Well, I probably have lame taste in movies, and these aren't necessarily my favorites, but some good ones off the top of my head:

Hotel Rwanda
Gladiator
50 First Dates
28 Days Later
Con Air
Waterboy
Ali G in Da House (sorry, hehe)

The Wedding Singer
Return to Me

PS - I read A Clockwork Orange in high school, and that book rocked my world. I watched the movie later, and was a bit disappointed.

In case you couldn't tell, strong affinity for Bogie and the Coen Brothers (both appearing twice on the list)
on Aug 05, 2005
I forgot Mel Brooks. I have always said that Blazing Saddles is most likely the best comedy ever made.

The Coen Bros. are definately worth mention Gid. And Bogie is Bogie after all.

I would say Young Frankenstein is the best, but Blazing Saddles is a very close second!

Remember, dont snort at Mongo!
