Since he was a conservative at the height of his hilarity this argument doesn't hold much water.
This show didn't have the snap of The Daily Show for certain but then again it was also devoted far more seriously to actual debate and discourse than TDS is. I think people wanted to see 60 minutes of Dennis Miller rants everyday which simply isn't possible. Miller's monlogues are carefully constructed and deeply layered. You don't crank those things out by the bushel. He wrote most of his best work for his stand up shows which left him struggling to meet an impossible goal for the talk show.
