I always liked his work. "Hell's Angels" being my favorite book.

He will be missed.

even though he has been relatively quiet for a while, it's still a terrible loss. altho i never really thought about how he'd end, it sorta makes sense that he didnt wait around or leave it to chance.

"Hell's Angels" being my favorite book.

i can't recall not enjoying anything he wrote altho 'hell's angels' was my favorite as well (also the only one of his books i read more than twice). it's sorta ironic because the subject is ultimately much less important or powerful than what's goin on around it, which ultimately led to thompson being in exactly the right place at exactly the right time to witness the dawning of a brave new world.

i KNEW i shoulda more carefully held on to those ralph steadman original sketches.

My sisters former father in law rode with HA back then and knew Hunter. Said he was a pretty smart guy who could hold his liquor and still ride a bike. That' s a compliment in their circles.

The literary world lost a true legend yesterday.

It is sad. Few people have written with his bite and bias. I have read several of his books and greatly enjoyed them.

Hunter was one of a kind - to quote 'I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me'.

The world has lost an original and will be poorer for it.

He hadn't been quiet, he's been writing all along. Just another casualty of an America somehow taken over by the squares and jesus freaks.

His last book was pretty good. I would suggest that anyone who is interested in politics pick up a copy.
