Snatching candy? drinking and scaring the neighbors? TELL US!
Published on October 28, 2004 By thatoneguyinslc In Home & Family
After a five hour flight from Boston to SLC ( I wish i woulda stayed one more night...YAY SOX!) I'm home.

I love Halloween! It's quite possibly my favorite holiday.

My best friend and his kid brother (is 23 a kid?) are coming in from California, and were suprising another friend.

Since it is an extended weekend and i have the next 10 days off....We will be doing a lot of drinking, and scaring the crap outta the neighbors. A group of us are dressing up like the cast of the movie RESIVOIR DOGS. (I get to be my hero. Mr. Blonde!)

Here's my schedule

Friday: Fetish Ball @ Area 51 (SLC club)

Saturday: Handing out candy to the kids in the 'hood. Watching a friends band ( Sons of Guns) play at the SLC Hard Rock Cafe then hitting my friend (and co-worker) Steve's annual halloween hot tub freakfest.

Sunday: The Halloween Bash @ Area 51 and a party at my house after.

Then recuperation for the next two days.

Your turn!

Whatcha doin this Halloween?

What I usually do: Roaming the casinos, looking at their decorations, watching people make fools of themselves, and being amazed that cocktail waitresses when given the opportunity for a change of costume will choose something even skimpier and more suggestive than normal.

Gene...U in vegas? I went to UNLV and the casinos/Strip are a blast on Halloween

P.S. -- And if I still had cable, watching a crap load of horror movies. (If I can find my DVD's I'll have a John Carpenter-thon.)

No, I'm down in Laughlin (Vegas-lite ). I do love Vegas, though. I am slowly working my way up there.

I've been to Vegas at Halloween, though. You're right. It's a crazy good time -- even for people like me who don't drink.

Laughlin is fun too.

I usually watch three horror movies every halloween

1. Night of the living dead (original B&W)
2.Nosferatu (silent version also B&W) scary!
3. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (also original)

This year i am going another route. A friend has loaned me a DVD set of Hammer films horror movies.
Hammer was a british film company that ruled the B-horror genre back in the 50's-60's and early 70's.
They hired all the A list horror actors (Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, Vincent Price etc.) and specialized in campy type horror flicks.

I do like Carpenter, but im still pissed at him for showing the world Mark Hammill's ass in "Body Bags"

thatoneguyinslc, is that slc ut? Just wondering. Anyway, I plan on sleeping. My entire family is gone until the night of the 31, and I have the entire house to myself for the first time in a looooong time. So sleeping, and messing around on the pc is my agenda.

I have lived in UT all my life, but I don't have a clue where Liberty Park is. I don't know SLC very well; I live south of Layton, and north of Farmington... east of Kaysville. I am mostly familiar with the area from Farmington to Ogden.

Ahhhh Davis county! Know it well. It's eastern part of downtown. Over by Trolley Square and Liberty Park (between 5th and 7th East.) I get lost in Ogden.

Trolley Square

Isn't that where they do a lot of Christmas lights/ trees and stuff in December?

I get lost in Ogden.

LoL, I get lost in Bountiful, Salt Lake; don't even ask me where Provo or "Road Redwood" (redwood road) is...it's kinda sad. Ogden is pretty easy for me because though I live in Davis county, I am doing lots of things in Weber, like working, and stuff...

Well, I am a mommy so my plans are a bit less exciting for me but will be a lot of fun because the kids love it so much.  Tomorrow, Fri, is my 2nd grader's Halloween party at school.  I am manning a cookie decorating booth dressed as a witch.  His school has a costume parade that is always totally adorable.  Our community has a trick-or-treat through the park from 3:30-6 after school.  Sat we will carve up 3 or 4 pumpkins, roast the seeds and munch them while watching classics like "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown".  My hubby and I might watch some horror flics after we put the wee ones to bed.  Then Halloween day we will have spooky stories at the neighborhood theatre and the kids will want to get into their costumes and get pictures taken with friends as soon as they can con us into it.  Trick-or-treating will probably start at around 5 and last until 7 or 8.  It is a school night so we will try to get them down from their sugar high and into bed before 10.

Probably sounds boring but I think it will be a lot of fun.  Maybe I'm just getting old (34).

Halloween is definately my favorite holiday also - I decorate inside and out, pull out all my scary movies, and watch the week of Halloween, one a night. Unfortunately I have to work Saturday night when many of the trick or treaters will be out and about which is a shame cause I LOVE scaring the crap outta them!!

Sunday night is a big party with a bunch of old friends I haven't seen in four years.

Now just curious ThatoneGuy....I have been to SLC a few times on business over the last few years and thought it was a fairly repressed area socially so tell us what the hell is a "Fetish Ball" in SLC like? I went to one last year in Denver and it was damn kinky!!!!

Well...the one in SLC is prolly much like the one in denver. SLC is actually a fairly liberal city with it's share of freaks...Now the rest of the state is a freakin mass 'o Mormons...lol
