Making out like a bandit....Woohoo!

Howdy folks!

I arrived in Miami last night. Stop #2 on my 3 city trip. Any of you business travelers know that sometimes you get the shaft when it comes to car rentals, and accommodations. You rent a certain class of car, and when you get there, they stick you in a GEO metro or something like that, and when you get to the hotel, they have stuck you in a room next to the damn elevators.

So...i get to the rental car lot (I'm Hertz #1 club Gold, none of that waiting in line crap for me) and my name isn't on the big board. So i assume they screwed up my reservation. Already in Pre-disgruntled mode, i walk up to the booth and ask them where the hell my car is. The clerk tells me that they rented out all the midsize cars for the day, and would give me something else. Naturally i assume i'm gonna get hosed. I'm standing there waiting and what comes around the corner?

A brand new 2005 ford Mustang! You know...The one that looks like the 67 fastback.

I'm a car guy who appreciates a good sports car so i'm just happier than hell now. I hop in and head to the hotel (i accidently lit up the tires on the way out of the lot)
So i get to the hotel. They put me in a regular room. About 5 minutes later i get a call from the hotel manager. (i'm there to do a site survey on the hotel's high speed internet system) She tells me that there was a mistake in my reservation, and they would like me to move rooms. Again, i assume i'm gonna get hosed. So i tell her it would be ok, and head down to the front desk to get my new room key, and head up to the new room. I open the door and what did i see?

A two level townhouse suite with a loft bedroom overlooking Biscayne bay. SCORE!!!

So i get settled in, and about 10 minutes later...Room service calls. They inform me that the GM of the hotel is sending up a snack. The waiter arrives 5 minutes later with two giant plates of cheeses, and fruit, and a couple of bottles of water, and four chilled Coronas.

Did i mention the car and the room are both FREE?

Life is pretty sweet right now...I love my job sometimes!

thanks for reading,

Sweet . . . wanna trade for a night? I've got a '98 Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan, a two story, 3 bedroom, 2 and a half bath duplex, and a fridge full of cheese singles, milk, orange juice, honey ham, eggs, and diet soda. You will be provided with two small assistants to help you with any needs you have (they'll make you a sandwich, bring you a pillow, or even hand you some toilet paper if you're in a jam). Sound good?

What a score. Not too often that things turn out like that. Enjoy it!

Oh i did Dev. Here's another. I got to Boston, and the same thing happened with the rental, except this time they gave me a blue Chrysler 300M Touring sedan. The boxy looking one. I preferred the mustang, but this one is pretty pimped out!
