Rodney Dangerfield passed away yesterday from complications after heart valve replacement surgery. He was 82. He was most likely one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time, and had a career that spanned half a century. The world is a less funny place without him.
He will be missed!

My dad and I had a lot of problems when I was growing up. He had a drinking problem that he didn't ditch until later in life, and a lot of my childhood memories revolve around sitting in one bar or another, watching him get blasted, and hating it, and maybe him, too...just a little.
Obviously, because of this, we had some differences that took some time to work out (we did clear the air, fortunately enough, a few years before he died, and we got along very well right up to the day he passed away).
One of the few good times I spent with my dad that didn't end by being ruined with alcohol was the evening we went out for some dinner, and then to see "Back to School", in 1986. I was 18.
We laughed together, at the same things, and really enjoyed that evening. For that night, I've always felt that I owed Rodney Dangerfield a debt of some kind. He helped my dad and I connect for once. Thanks, Rodney......and goodbye.
