The things we do for $$$

Everybody has gripes about work. Anyone who says otherwise is either lying, stupid, or probably your boss. Considering the state of the industry i work in (IT) i know im lucky to have a good paying job. There's tons of people out there who can't say that. Hell i know of at least half a dozen friends with higher level certifications than i do that are working at starbucks. (Well...one in particular, but you get my point.)

I feel like sometimes they just don't get it back at the home office. They get to go home every night and weekend, and kiss their spouses, play with their kids, sit on the lazy-boy and watch cartoon network, and sleep in their own beds. I on the other hand, have to work constantly until the job is done then i get a couple days off, which consist of sleeping, and doing laundry. Then its right back out on the road for a few weeks. I worked my butt off all weekend, and had some major problems that i could not resolve on my own, or that anybody on my crew could resolve. We do have a support center back in our home office that is supposed to assist me if i have unresolvable issues. But they operate under a different boss, and dont always come through for me. I started making calls Saturday morning. I got in contact with an engineer that i had to pull out of church on Sunday. (we are based out of Salt Lake City, pulling someone out of church is considered a big deal) and this morning i get a call from my boss saying the other boss was pissed at me for what we call "going out of the process".

So we have a conference call with all parties involved. Im explaining why, what, how who etc. All the other boss can do is sit there and try to pin it on me and my boss, because his guys dropped the ball. If i could have reached his throat through the phone, i would be typing this from the Cook county slammer. Normally im not someone prone to violence, but if you push me hard enough i will snap, just like most people. The bottom line is after all this, they finally agreed to give me what i needed, which was pretty simple but they still started reaming me over it. The funny thing is...I followed their process of asking for help, the tech on the phone gave me the # of the engineer i pulled out of church (which is the tech's job therefore the out of process crap starts).

Ya know... Starbucks is looking pretty damn good right about now

Thanks for reading. I needed to vent. And if your in Chicago down on the south loop and see a disgruntled IT guy sitting at the end of the bar, buy him a drink. I will appreciate it...lol
